GodChick in Pakistan Sentenced to Death

At GodChicks 2010, over 1300 GodChicks wrote letters to free Asia Bibi. This week she was sentenced to death. She is one of thousands of Christians around the world that have been persecuted and wrongly imprisoned for their faith.
Asia Bibi is a 37-year-old Pakistani woman from the village of Ittanwali. She was arrested by police on Friday, June 19, 2009 on charges of blasphemy. Asia is the wife of 50-year-old Ashiq Masih, and their family is one of only three Christian families in a village of more than 1,500 families.
GodChicks we have to go to work and be a voice for Asia. Asia only has 7 days for an appeal!
Proverbs 31 8-9 says,
8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
9 Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.
Here is what we need to do!
1. PRAY for Asia and for her family. Pray that God would sustain them through this difficult time. Pray for justice for her, and for the attorneys who even now are working on an appeal.
2. WRITE. Asia is one of the prisoners on www.PrisonerAlert.com, which gives several ways to respond. People can write letters of encouragement to Asia at the prison where she is being held.
3. BE AN ADVOCATE! One of the crucial things to do RIGHT AWAY is to be an advocate and email the President of Pakistan, the Pakistan Embassy in Washington DC and the Pakistan delegation to the UN. Ask for Asia Bibi's life to be spared, for her release & let them know the world is watching.

It is CRITICAL to fill up these email boxes with letters on behalf of Asia. We must make the Pakistani government see that carrying out this execution will be noticed by the world, and will be seen as a black mark on Pakistan.
4. SPEAK OUT. Blogs, Twitter and Facebook are great ways to help spread the word. Time is of the essence in this case, she only has 6 days to file an appeal. The more people we can get to send emails and raise the issue, the better.

I wish I would have noticed the typo on her name. I think I wrote the wrong name on two of the emails. I was writing Asia Biblia. That is how her name is spelled in the first sentence above. I think her real name is Asia Bibi, correct?

For those wondering about her correct name, I Googled "Asia Bibi" and found articles on her and her pictures with that name next to them. Nothing came up for "Asia Biblia" so I would say reference "Asia Bibi" not "Asia Biblia!"

If you think you are going to help God by mistreating people who do not believe like you, you are a small-minded person, who wrongly think that God is small-minded like you.
So, let God be God, and don't make Him jealous by taking His place. In fact, the golden rule says "Treat others as you would want them to treat you".
You can share with others your "right" ideas, and you can tell them their "wrong" ideas". But if you can't do it in a peaceful manner, you are not qualified.

We can do this - the bible says, if 2 or more gather and agree it shall be done - so I would say that if we are asking the release of one of his followers which would be in accordance with his will then wouldn't the God of Heaven who holds the keys to death and life answer us and release Asia just as He did Paul. His promise to us is also - I will never leave you nor forsake you and blessed are you who are persecuted for my names sake. Lets go to prayer and have faith.

I'm wondering why you are using this a a forum to voice your political beliefs. It is quite easy to create a blog to voice and express your feelings on this subject. What the Christian women here are simply trying to do is save the life of one of their Christian sisters who is about to be killed, not for political reasons but because she believes and proclaims the name of Jesus Christ as Lord and King. They understand that to die this way would bring honor to her name, but they also know that with her death one more voice for Christ will be silenced in her village and her nation and that's one less voice to proclaim the truth and lead others to the Savin grace of Christ. So don't be fooled, their motive is not to simply save her life because they understand that she will live in eternity with her lord, it is to delay the destruction of her earthly vessel so that she can continue to be a voice of truth to the deceived among her people so that some may come to the knowledge of the truth and be redeemed from death to life with their Creator. I pray you can honor and respect their cause and take you political fight to the correct battlefield because that is not what this is. I also pray that the Lord Jesus Christ will reveal Himself to you in such a way that you WON'T be able to deny Him and that you would be transformed into a Child of light and truth to be a voice for His name by the knowledge of His grace and power! Asia Bibi, a 45-year-old mother-of-five, denies blasphemy and told investigators that she was being persecuted for her faith in a country where Christians face routine harassment and discrimination.
Christian groups and human rights campaigners condemned the verdict and called for the blasphemy laws to be repealed.
Her supporters say she will now appeal against the sentence handed down in a local court in the town of Sheikhupura, near Lahore, Pakistan...

Hi I am from Australia, I wish to protest about Asia Bibi's arrest.
I love your country, but I am disappointed about the unfair arrest.
How can I ever visit your country when things like this are happening.
Please release her and all religious prisoners immediately.

I have emailed the 3 parties asking them to intervene on Asias behalf and will pray and forward the email to Christians and non Christians alike... this is a humanitarian issue as well as a Christian one. God Bless you all

I also wrote to all three addresses and will continue praying for her and her persecutors. I'm also forwarding this information to my friends and family - it's disheartening how many nonsensical reports make it into the daily news, and yet situations like Asia's often go unheard!

Tonight I prayed with sisters and brothers in Christ for our sister in Pakistan. Emailed the three potential advocates and posted a plea on facebook for my "friends" to email the people also.

I am deeply moved by Asia's story and the trail she has to endure, just for speaking about her faith. I sent the e-mails and I am praying for her and her family. I wish there was a way to tell Asia how many people all over the world are praying for her.

Just sent emails to all three places. I posted this on my facebook profile also. My daughter emailed and posted this to her profile and got an interesting response from one of her non-Christian friends. The friend said, "You don't need to be a Christian to stand up for religious intolerance". She is right. We should be posting..."PLEASE READ!! Asia Bilbi is a 37 year old Pakistan woman etc..etc..".... It already tells in her story that she is a Christian. The more people we can get to email and write, the better for this precious lady (Christians or non- Christians) and in the process this just may be a witness to people participating in trying to help her. Thank you so much for caring enough about her to get the word out!! God Bless you all!!!!! Asia is in my prayers.

I know that this is little but it is something. It is ashame how people are being treated for their beliefs as if this woman posed a threat for her belief in Christianity and God.
My heart and prayers go out to her and her entire family. May God have mercy on her soul and may he hold her and keep her. Asia is in my heart and my prayers.

I read a scripture the other night that made me think of Asia. Peter was imprisioned and the people prayed. They prayed so fervently that an angel came and walked him right out of the jail! God is still on the throne and has the power to do this. If we would believe and pray that nothing could stop her from being free then she will be free! God says that if we ask then we shall receive!!!!!!
