October is breast cancer awareness month. Pink is everywhere!!! Thank you to all of you who participated in PINK events…or who gave toward the cause…to those of you who pray for victims…or who continue to fight your own fight. When I was battling cancer I learned a few things about fighting a battle…here are three of them.
1. WHO YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH IS IMPORTANT
The actual soldiers in our world today, when they are engaging in combat, they want to be in the right position in their unit…surrounded by fellow soldiers.
It is the same for you and I.
We need to make sure we are in the right position for the battle we are engaged in, surrounded by people who can support us, and challenge us if necessary. We are not designed to fight alone!
2. HAVE FAITH FOR TODAY
Honestly I haven’t always been very good at this…
I like to know the plan…what is going to happen next week, next month…what is the result of that test going to mean??
In so many aspects, my cancer journey if felt like I was in the waiting room...and I was definitely not enjoying it.
Every test just led to more questions…even now as I go for check ups and more tests…questions come up …
And sometimes worry weighs on me …
Worry is a kind of fear.
It is always thinking something will go wrong
The mentality that says, “everything is good now…but you never know!”
Worry is thinking I am in control of actually what I am not
We have to be ok what we can’t control
I realized that I did not have to know what would happen tomorrow…I just had to have faith for today.
Hebrews 11 tells us that NOW faith is…
Hebrews 11:1 (New International Version)
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see
I just had to have faith for now…for this moment…could I do that? Yep!
I had to get great at living in the moment called NOW…being grateful for this moment.
How about you? Are you worried what tomorrow will bring? Are you burdened down by the fears of next week?
Matthew 6:34 (MSG)
Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.
No two days will be the same…get up rejoicing in a day that someone else missed.
While you slept, someone else breathed their last and slipped into eternity without seeing this day…but you are here…this day is God’s gift to you! Live it!
3. KNOW WHO GOD IS…
O Lord of hosts, blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts in You [leaning and believing on You, committing all and confidently looking to You, and that without fear or misgiving]! Psalm 84:12 AMP
Who is this God that we can trust in?
John 3:16-17 (GNT)
16 For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.17 For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its savior.
Put your name in there…
God so loved YOU that he gave his only Son…
God is not mad at you.
So many people ask what God’s will is…is it God’s will to heal? Easy to answer that question..
Hebrews 1:3 (New Living Translation)
3The Son, Jesus, reflects God's own glory, and everything about him represents God exactly.
This scripture makes it clear…if we want to know what the will of God is, we need to look at Jesus…what did he do?
Jesus is our representation of the Father and Jesus went about healing all who were afflicted with disease…so that must be God’s will, since Jesus was his representative.
Jesus exactly and perfectly showed us the Father and His will. He healed multitude after multitude.
Matthew 4:24 (CEV)
News about him spread all over Syria, and people with every kind of sickness or disease were brought to him. Some of them had a lot of demons in them, others were thought to be crazy, and still others could not walk. But Jesus healed them all.
Jesus has NOT changed!!
Hebrews 13:8 (NIV)
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
John 10:10 presents two plans for our life.
John 10:10 (NIV)
10The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Satan’s plan is theft, murder and destruction.
God’s plan is life…abundant life…in quality and quantity.
Don't let the enemy steal God’s identity.
In the midst of whatever challenge you might be in…KNOW that you are loved by God!! And that He has great plans for your life.
And our amazing God will either rescue you from this situation…or give you the strength to go through it!

Wow, this is a lot of Word packed in one article. I never thought I worried much, however, reading this I must say I do worry (fear) about the future. Thanks for the Word, encouragement and shining the light in darkness. Bless you all!
